BEFORE HE BECAME A HERO,
HE WAS JUST A FARM DOG.
Casper was a Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog living with his owner, John Wierwille, in Georgia, USA.
His job was simple. Stay with the sheep. Watch the flock. Keep predators away.
Casper was known as a friendly, gentle and somewhat goofy dog. But when danger came close to the flock, something changed. His instinct was to protect.

10 / WHO CASPER REALLY WAS
HE WASN’T BORN
TO BE A HERO.
Casper was a livestock guardian. His job was to stay with the animals under his protection.
Great Pyrenees have long been used as livestock guardian dogs. Casper’s story became extraordinary because of what happened when that protective instinct was truly tested.
GENTLE BY NATURE. FEARLESS WHEN IT MATTERED.
WHAT DOES
CASPER LEAVE BEHIND?
Not just a story about a dog. A story about protection.
About standing your ground. About protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
About returning home after the fight.
